Police investigate theft of trailer in Ninole

Big Island police are investigating the theft of a trailer from Ninole in North Hilo over the weekend.

Sometime between 3:30 p.m. Friday (September 30) and 6:30 a.m. Monday (October 3), a black Big Text hydraulic lift utility trailer was removed from Waikamalu Park. The trailer, which bears the license plate 924HYY, is valued at $13,000. Its left rear drop-down ramp is bent.

Police ask that anyone with information about the stolen trailer or the identity of the person or persons who took it call Officer Daniel Jelsma at 962-2120 or the Police Department’s non-emergency line at 935-3311.

Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous may call Crime Stoppers at 961-8300 in Hilo or 329-8181 in Kona and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000. Crime Stoppers is a volunteer program run by ordinary citizens who want to keep their community safe. Crime Stoppers doesn’t record calls or subscribe to caller ID.
