MEDIA RELEASE

A public information meeting is planned 5:30-7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20 at the West Hawaii Civic Center Community Meeting Hale to discuss the candidate sites and Draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the proposed Kona Judiciary Complex.

The meeting is being held during the 45-day comment period for the Draft EIS (deadline Oct. 6, 2011). Input received at this meeting will provide information for the Final EIS and the Judiciary site selection process.

Oral comments at the public meeting will be limited to 3-5 minutes. Written comments of any length may be submitted any time during the 45-day Draft EIS comment period to KonaJudiciary@group70int.com.

The Kona Judiciary Complex Site Selection is being jointly undertaken by the Hawaii State Judiciary and the Department of Accounting and General Services to address a long-standing need for a new complex in the West Hawaii service area.

The Kona Judiciary Complex Site Selection Draft EIS has identified seven Candidate Sites in the Kailua-Kona area.

The Kona Judiciary Complex Site Selection Draft EIS was published in the OEQC Environmental Notice on Aug. 23 and is available for review online.
