Kona Coffee Farmers Association to picket Safeway (Aug. 11)

MEDIA RELEASE

Paul Uster, Kona Coffee Farmers Association board member, met Aug. 4 with representatives of Safeway Corp. in Pleasanton, Calif. to discuss the concerns of Kona coffee farmers about Safeway’s labeling of Kona coffee in its stores.

Safeway’s response was that they would look into the situation and get back to KCFA by Sept. 1.

KCFA members do not feel that much time is necessary and now plan to picket the Kona Safeway store 3-4 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 11.

For details, contact Bruce Corker at 895-3850.

The Kona Coffee Farmers Association is a volunteer, non-profit, community-based organization of coffee farmers with the mission to promote and protect the economic interests of Kona coffee farmers who grow and sell 100% Kona coffee and to seek greater legal protection of the Kona coffee name.
