U.S. Sen. Daniel K. Akaka (D-Hawaii) has issued the following statement:

“As President Obama correctly pointed out, the stakes are extremely high and Congress must overcome partisan politics to get this done. The American people need Congress to come together to pass a plan that allows us to fulfill our commitments. I am disappointed to see the talks come to an impasse again.”
