West Hawaii Dance Theatre has opened enrollment for its Summer Fun dance workshops for children aged 3 to 12 years.
Introduction To Dance – Ages 3-6
July 18 to July 22
Session 1 9 – 11 a.m.
Session 2 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Cost $85 per session
Students will be introduced to creative movement, performing arts and fundamental terms and positions of classical ballet. A variety of fun, dance-themed crafts round out the session. Be sure to bring a snack and drink!
Introduction To Dance – Ages 7-12
July 25 to July 29
9 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Cost $150
Dancers will attend a variety of classes, which may include classical ballet, jazz, hip hop, hula and performing arts. This is a great introduction to various dance forms for beginners, as well as students with some experience. Bring a water bottle and snack!
The classes will be taught by Blythe Kirkpatrick.
Blythe was a student at West Hawaii Dance Theatre ages 5 – 16, when she was accepted into North Carolina School of the Arts. She holds a BA in Philosophy from Whitman College and has performed extensively with Whitman Dance Theatre and Whitman Dance Productions.
She returns to us after residing in Oregon where she was president of the Dance Coalition of Oregon, performed with Mythobolus Mask Theatre, The Dolly Pops and taught ballet at Collins View Dance and Arts Center.
