Biscay featured at vegan dinner, talk (July 7)

MEDIA RELEASE

The Mauna Lani Bay Hotel & Bungalows celebrates women in sport with a relaxed three-course, farm-to-table vegan dinner hosted by Team Mauna Lani pro Hillary Biscay at 6 p.m. Thursday, July 7.

Hillary is one of the most prolific iron-distance competitors on the professional women’s racing circuit. In 2006, she set a standard in Ironman racing by becoming the first person to record six top-five Ironman finishes in one season.

In 2010, after completing eight Ironmans during the season, Hillary took on a new challenge at the Ultraman World Championships here on the Big Island. She finished second and recorded the fastest women’s Ultraman debut in history, while also finishing more than an hour under the 21-year-old course record time.

Hillary competed as an age-group triathlete for four years before turning pro. During this time, she was teaching at the University of Southern California and working on a Ph.D. in American Literature. She put this degree on hold to turn her triathlon hobby into a livelihood and hasn’t looked back.

Hillary will share highlights of her career, (including meeting her fiancée through the sport!), provide some of her best training and racing tips and talk about how her vegan lifestyle has given her an extra competitive edge.

Each guest will receive a special gift from Hillary’s clothing sponsor, Skirt Sports, which offers some of the coolest and hippest women’s fitness apparel in the market.
