On Monday (June 27) the Tesoro Gas Station on Kamehameha Avenue in Hilo lowered all grades of gasoline to one low price in support of Special Olympics East Hawaii. Police officers, personnel and Tesoro employees collected donations and registered folks for a chance to win a $500 Tesoro gas card.

For those who can’t or couldn’t make the Hilo fundraiser you’ll have a chance in Kona Tuesday (June 28) at the Honokohau Tesoro Gas station from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Funds raised in Hilo will be used for Special Olympics projects while Kona funds will be used in West Hawaii.

“Fueling Dreams” is a coordinated project for the purpose of raising awareness and funds for athletes of Special Olympics. During this project, off-duty officers, Police Department personnel and Tesoro employees will team up to pump gasoline and wipe windshields for customers while collecting donations. All monies earned are earmarked to support the organization’s annual Summer Games, which will be held in May 2012. Last year, “Fueling Dreams” raised $57,000 statewide.

You can fuel the dreams of Special Olympics athletes! Now through July 6, Tesoro Hawai’i will be accepting donations at all Tesoro 2Go stations and offering supporters the chance to enter drawings for $1,500 in Tesoro giftCards®.
