Motorcycle rider crashes motorcycle into utility pole in Hilo

Fire/rescue crews responded to a 12:14 p.m. alarm Saturday (June 25) to Waianuenue Avenue, fronting Hilo Union School, for a motorcycle that crashed into a utility pole.

Fire dispatch reports the motorcycle rider lost control, veered onto the sidewalk, struck a chain-link fence and then the utility pole. Rescue crews found the rider 25 feet from the crash scene.

The motorcycle rider was treated for a possible spinal cord injury and taken to Hilo Medical Center.

An investigation into the crash is being conduced by Hawaii County Police.
