MEDIA RELEASE

Habitat for Humanity West Hawaii was selected by Lowe’s Companies to receive a house sponsorship in the amount of $25,000 towards the construction of a home for a Habitat Partner Family.

Lowe’s partnership with Habitat for Humanity International helps provide safe, affordable housing for thousands of working families worldwide.

On June 11, a team of volunteers from Lowe’s of Kona came out to help at the home build for the Kawaauhau-Case Ohana in Kawaihae.

“Our employees are excited about the opportunity to work on a project like this – being part of making a big difference for a local family enriches all of our lives”, said Christina Kidwell, Human Resource Manager of Lowe’s of Kona.

“Lowe’s Kona has generously supported our affiliate with merchandise that we are able to sell at our ReStore which in turns help fund the builds. With the sponsorship of a home build, Lowe’s Companies will cover a 1/3 of the cost to build the home”, said Patrick Hurney, Executive Director for Habitat for Humanity West Hawaii. “It is this type of partnership that enables us to build simple, decent homes for a family in need in our community. If your company would like to sponsor future home builds, please contact our Resource Development Director Isobel Donovan at 331-8010.”
