FHVNP seeks diverse board members

MEDIA RELEASE

“The Nominating and Elections Committee of the Friends of Hawaii Volcanoes National Park seeks candidates to fill current and future vacancies on our Board of Directors,” FHVNP Interim President Patrick W. Naughton said. “Nominees of diverse backgrounds who can be visionary leaders are ideal.”

Prior board experience is not required, but solid candidates should be committed to FHVNP’s mission, to collaboration, and to non-profit excellence.

The two-year term of office for board members begins at FHVNP’s Annual Meeting, which is scheduled for Sept. 10 in the park.

“To increase diversity, we are especially encouraging individuals from a broad range of ethnicities and cultural backgrounds to be nominated,” Naughton said.

FHVNP’s mission is to support the National Park Service in the protection, preservation, and interpretation of the natural and cultural resources at Hawaii Volcanoes National Park for the enjoyment of current and future generations.

The 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, founded in 1997, strives to connect people with the park through education, volunteerism, and philanthropy.

Send your recommendations (all confidential) to president@fhvnp.org. Include the candidate’s contact information and short bio or resume, if possible. Self nominations are also welcome.
