Celebrating Honokaa’s heritage through May 30

Dust off your boots, saddle up and join Honokaa Town in celebrating its heritage during the 2011 Western Week Festival.

On Friday May 27, the Block Party rides into downtown Honokaa. The road will be closed 5-11 p.m. with the Paniolo Parade starting at 5 p.m. with Grand Marshall is Josephine Boteilho.

From 6-11 p.m. is entertainment in the streets featuring live country music by Silver Spurs and the Famous Saloon Girl Contest.

The Hawaii Saddle Club is proud to put on the 55th Annual Scholarship Rodeo; the oldest, largest, and best rodeo in the State of Hawaii, with more than 300 contestants from all over the State of Hawaii and the mainland.

The Honokaa Rodeo Grounds will host Slack Roping all day Saturday, May 28, with bareback broncs, barrel racing, calf roping, bull riding and other exciting rodeo events from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, May 29 and Monday, May 30.
