Roadwork and Easter activities to alter traffic on Hilo streets

Reeds Island Bridge closed April 25-29 during the day for testing

Reeds Island Bridge will close Monday, April 25 to Friday, April 29 between the hours of 8:00 A.M. to 5:30 P.M. A soil and foundation investigation will be conducted to determine if it meets State and Federal Highway (FHWA) standards for design and construction.

The bridge will open 5:30 P.M. to 8:00 A.M. and on weekends. The alternate route for motorists is Hale/Kahema Streets, a half mile mauka of Ka‘iulani and the Waiānuenue intersection. This route is open only during the hours the bridge is closed.

Easter activities at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church will alter travel on Kapi‘olani Street.

Travel on Kapi‘olani St. between Waiānuenue Avenue to Haili Street will be one- way in the southerly direction on the following dates:

  • 1:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. Friday, April 22
  • 5:00 P.M. to 10:00 P.M., Saturday, April 23
  • 5:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M. Sunday, April 24

Parking along both sides of Kapi‘olani St is allowed.

Aupuni Street roadwork begins Monday, April 25 at 7 a.m.

Motorists should plan for alternate lane closures and delays on Aupuni Street beginning Monday, April 25, to Friday, April 29. The Highway Maintenance division will have equipment and crew resurfacing the road between the hours of 7:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. Parallel parking along the route is not permitted

Kekuanaoa Street roadwork set for May 2-4

Kekuanaoa Street from Kanoelehua to Hinano Street will be resurfaced Monday, May 2 to Wednesday May 4. Road resurfacing will continue on Kekuanaoa Street from Kanoelehua to Hinano Street between the hours of 7:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. from Monday, May 2 to Wednesday May 4. Kekuanaoa will be open only to residents in immediate area. No parking along both sides of the road will be permitted.
