Puuhonua o Honaunau NHP closure update

MEDIA RELEASE

Puuhonua o Honaunau National Historical Park has almost fully recovered from the damage to the park grounds that was caused by the tsunami event of March 11, 2011.

We are happy to announce that for the first time since the tsunami event, the puuhonua grounds are now open to the public.

Open and Accessible Areas:
* Royal Grounds
* Puuhonua Picnic Area
* 1871 Trail (inland trail)

Current Closures:
* Coastal Trail from the Picnic Area to the 1871 Trail junction

Park Hours: 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Visitor Center Hours: 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
