Firefighters and medics responded to a 6:17 p.m. alarm to Hale Manu Drive in Panaewa for a structure fire Wednesday (March 9).
A five gallon propane tank leaked gas and ignited in a washroom area of the home. One of the residents of the home said they tried to put out the fire with water but couldn’t and evacuated along with their vehicle next to the house and called 911. A washing machine and dryer were burned in the room along with part of the wall.
Firefighters extinguished the smokey fire within a few minutes of arriving on the scene.
There were no injuries in the fire and damage was confined to the wash room and estimated to be $1,000.
