Marine Forecast

Locally strong trade winds over the normally windier waters around the Big Island and Maui will continue today and the small craft advisory is extended until 6 pm HST. The trades are expected to decrease below advisory levels tonight and Tuesday. The trade winds are expected to strengthen again mid to late week into the small craft advisory range for these normally windy waters.

The next significant north northwest swell is expected to arrive Wednesday…generated by a storm presently over the central Aleutian Islands. Surf produced by this swell will likely reach the high surf advisory thresholds along north and west facing shores of some of the smaller islands Wednesday evening and Thursday.
