Hawaii First joins in light bulb exchange

MEDIA RELEASE

In a time when every penny counts and using energy smarter is vital to our future, Hawaii First is proud to offer a “Bulb Exchange” for all who are ready to take the next step to savings money and saving our planet.

Hawaii First FCU is participating with the CFL Light Bulb Exchange Project offered by the Kohala Center, Blue Planet Foundation and Hawaii Energy, and will be taking your old-style incandescent light bulbs and exchanging them free of charge with brand new CFL bulbs.

According to Hawaii Energy, CFL bulbs last up to 10 times longer than incandescent light bulbs, produce about 70 percent less heat, save you up to $24 per bulb, per year and help reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the fight against climate change.

All are invited to exchange their light bulbs between the hours of 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at any Hawaii First FCU location in Waimea, Waikoloa, Hilo, or at the Hawaii First Community Resource Center located in Waimea, while supplies last.
