Kaloko-Honokohau park offers free programs

Kaloko-Honokohau National Historical Park is offering free programs during the month of February, led by rangers and volunteers.

Kumu Keala Ching teaches kupuna hula 9:30-11:30 a.m. Mondays at the park visitor center. Ching also teaches olelo chant 9:30-11:30 a.m. Wednesdays.

Listen and learn how to the play the ukulele with Mana 1-3 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays.

Volunteer geologist Mark Solien leads a hike and describes the geology of West Hawaii from the visitor center beginning at 10 a.m. Tuesdays. Shoes, water and sunscreen are recommended.

Hawaiian music by Rance Pinao and friends will be performed from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursdays.

Ranger-led walks to the Kaloko Fishpond begin at 10 a.m. Saturdays and Sundays at the parks visitor center.

National parks in Hawaii will be the topic for presentations at 10 a.m. Saturdays at Aiopio fishtrap.
