Howell joining NHCH staff

MEDIA RELEASE

North Hawaii Community Hospital welcomes Kerry Howell as the vice president of development and marketing, effective Dec. 6.

“We are delighted to welcome Kerry to our management team. She brings to us a wealth of fundraising, communications, marketing and business development experience,” said Ken Wood, president and CEO of NHCH. “Ms. Howell has worked with a range of non-profit organizations, research institutes, universities and media companies across the U.S. over the past 25 years.”

Most recently, Howell has served as vice president for advancement at Keck Graduate Institute of Applied Sciences (a member of the Claremont Colleges) in Claremont, Calif.

Her most notable accomplishment there was helping the Institute complete a $30 million, seven-year matching challenge grant from the W.M. Keck Foundation one year ahead of schedule.

Prior to this role, Howell held various development and leadership positions with non-profit organizations in Seattle, at the University of Washington and at Washington State University. Earlier in her career she was a TV news reporter and producer with WFAA-TV, the ABC-TV network affiliate in Dallas.

Howell attended schools in Hawaii, Washington, California and Texas before receiving her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Broadcast Journalism from Southern Methodist University in Dallas.

In joining North Hawaii Community Hospital, Howell returns home to family on the Big Island.

“I feel blessed and honored for the opportunity to return home and help NHCH develop its full potential to meet the health care needs of North Hawaii,” she said. “It’s an extraordinary place and community to which I feel deeply committed.”

North Hawaii Community Hospital (NHCH) is a rural 39-bed acute care hospital located in Waimea. Non-profit, community owned and locally governed, the hospital opened in May 1996 and cares for Big Island residents and visitors. NHCH offers an extensive set of hospital services that are centered on patient needs, creating a healing experience for the whole person – mind, body and spirit.
