Stand Up World Tour to conclude at Honolii (Dec. 10-19)

MEDIA RELEASE

After a spectacular year abroad, the Stand Up World Tour Championship will conclude Dec. 10-19 at Honolii – the legendary surf spot just north of Hilo Bay.

The SUP World Tour Championship pits the world’s best SUP surfers against each other, and the sport’s first-ever world champion will be crowned.

Hilo resident and SUP champ Kalani Kahalioumi is a local favorite, while Maui boy Kai Lenny and Peyo Lizarazu of France will duel it out for the title.

There will also be Ocean Festival in Hilo Bay the final weekend, and much more.

The Stand Up World Tour was established in 2009 to address the exponential growth in the sport of Stand Up Paddling, and to provide its premier athletes with an international platform on which to compete for the prestigious and official World Championship Title.

Focusing on the most visually dynamic element of the sport, surfing, the goal of creating the Stand Up World Tour has been to showcase the sport, its heritage and development, together with its athletes and their collective and colorful stories to the world via the ever increasing forms of global media.
