Gov. Linda Lingle announced the State has launched an automated telephone directory system that will make it easier for callers to reach a State or county office.

The centralized system provides callers with options to connect directly to the Governor’s and Lt. Governor’s offices, the Legislature, State departments, the University of Hawaii and county offices.

The State telephone directory phone number is 586-2211 on Oahu or toll-free on the neighbor islands at 974-4000 ext. 62211#.

Contact information for State and county offices is also listed in the phone book and on the State’s website at www.hawaii.gov

The new system began operating Friday, Oct. 1.
