Statement from Hawaii Boating and Fishing Association

The following statement was issued by Capt. Al Gustavson, president of the Hawaii Fishing and Boating Association:

Thank you to all members and the members of the community for attending the meeting this past Tuesday with former Mayor of Honolulu Mufi Hannemann.

Although, we did not host this meeting, it was well attended and Mr. Hannemann made some strong commitments. Now, it is our job to make sure he remembers these commitments. I would appreciate it if you sent this article to all of your friend(s) and family so we can keep the momentum and pressure on.

I would also like to mention that the Association does not and will not make any commitments to any politician as far as backing them for election or re-election. Once a politician puts in writing that they support our cause they will be designated as a “Friend of Honokohau Harbor.” In other words, as an Association we do not wave signs for anyone.

Our web page is consistently getting closer to where we would like it. Please send it out to all of your friend(s). Please notice the donation button (Hint). We appreciate all levels of donations. Anything is very helpful. Believe me when I say 100% goes to our harbor because I mean it.

The Association also needs MORE members. When our membership reached 1,000 we gained such respect and strengthened as an organization. Now, let’s see what happens at 2,000 members. Get out those memberships which can be found on our website or by clicking membership form link. Please note that you do not have to mail these in rather you can fax them to me at 808-325-1769.
