Family Support Services of West Hawaii changes name to Family Support Hawaii

MEDIA RELEASE

Family Support Services of West Hawaii (FSSWH) is pleased to announce the agency’s name change to Family Support Hawaii. Family Support Hawaii will operate as a DBA under Family Support Services of West Hawaii.

This is a reflection of the agency’s island-wide programming since the beginning of its Malama Perinatal Program in 2007. The organization was established in 1979 by community volunteers who were concerned for the well-being of the Big Island’s children.

Executive Director Patrick “Paki” Story states that Family Support Hawaii is committed to expanding its presence island wide in order to continue promoting its mission — “to support families and communities in providing love and care for our children.”

In addition to this transition, Family Support Hawaii also wishes to recognize and thank JoAnn Bishop Freed for her nearly 30 years of tireless work and dedication to the families of our community. JoAnn’s impact to the communities in West Hawaii, as well as the entire state, is immeasurable. Family Support Hawaii wishes JoAnn well on her new journey. A hui hou JoAnn.
