Dawson of Thirty Meter Telescope guest speaker Tuesday (Aug 24)

Sandra Dawson, representative for the Thirty meter Telescope project to speak at Kona Soroptimists program meeting

Soroptimist International of Kona invites the public to attend the August program meeting at the Royal Kona Resort on Tuesday, August 24th at 11:45 am. The featured speaker will be Sandra Dawson, Task Leader for the Site Master Planning and the Hawaii representative for the proposed Thirty Meter Telescope Project, astronomy’s next-generation observatory. It will be the most advanced and capable telescope on Earth. She will focus on drawing in local young women to be part of this scientific achievement.

Cost of the luncheon is $22 and parking is free. Reservations are required and can be made by calling Suzanne Gillam at 329-1351 by Monday noon August 23rd.
