Hilo woman robbed in Keaukaha Tuesday (July 27)

Big Island police are investigating a robbery in the Keaukaha area of Hilo last week.

A 44-year-old Hilo woman reported that she was sunbathing at Carlsmith Beach Park around 4:30 p.m. last Tuesday (July 27). Several males were drinking nearby and she attempted to leave the area. On of them reportedly hit her on the back of the head several times, punched her in the face and stole a black fanny pack with contents.

The assailant is described as a local male, approximately 5-foot-9 with short hair.

Police ask that anyone with information about this case call Detective Wendell Carter at 961-2378 or the Police Department’s non-emergency line at 935-3311. Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous may call Crime Stoppers at 961-8300 in Hilo or 329-8181 in Kona. All Crime stoppers information is kept confidential.
