Motor vehicle registration renewal offered online

MEDIA RELEASE

Renewing your motor vehicle registration just got easier. The County of Hawai’i is now offering an online motor vehicle registration renewal service at mvr.ehawaii.gov/renewals/hawai…

The service is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

“We are pleased to launch another online service that’s designed to help make county government more accessible to the general public, and is part of our overall plan to improve efficiency,” said Mayor Billy Kenoi.

“For Hawai‘i County motor vehicle owners who wish to save time and avoid standing in lines, we are excited to offer citizens this efficient and smooth process for paying motor vehicle registration renewals online,“ said Lee Lord, Hawai‘i Vehicle Licensing and Registration Division Manager.

Citizens can access the online system by providing the last four digits of their Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) and their license plate number. The user-friendly interface guides the user through the entire payment process.

The fee may be paid via credit card, including Visa, MasterCard, American Express, or Discover. Upon confirmation of payment, a receipt will be emailed and may be printed for recordkeeping. The new registration certificate and emblem will be mailed to the customer via postal mail.

The system is maintained on secure servers and uses the latest encryption technology to ensure privacy, security, and data integrity, Lord said.

The motor vehicle registration renewal system is the most recent addition to the county’s online services. The County of Hawai‘i also offers online real property tax payments at payments.ehawaii.gov/propertyt… and online camping permits at www.ehawaii.gov/Hawaii_County/…

The development of this online service is a part of the State’s overall campaign to improve efficiency by implementing electronic government services. Currently ehawaii.gov has more than 60 online applications that residents, businesses and even visitors may use to conduct business with the state government via the Internet.

Hawai‘i’s official Internet portal, www.ehawaii.gov, is managed by Hawaii Information Consortium, LLC (HIC), a Hawai‘i corporation and wholly owned subsidiary of eGovernment firm NIC Inc. HIC works with government agencies to enable them to conduct business online and improve public access to government information.
