Fire/rescue crews responded to a 3:55 a.m. alarm Saturday morning (July 18) for a structure fire on the East end of Akanikolea Street at Seaview Subdivision in Pahoa.

Upon arrival crews found a single story home, 400 square feet in size fully engulfed in flames. Firefighters extinguished the blaze 15 minutes after arriving.

Neighbors said the owner was off-island with nobody living in the home.

The loss in the blaze is estimated to be $20,000. The cause of the fire is unknown.
