DUI stats for the week of June 7-13

During the week of June 7, 2010, through June 13, 2010, Big Island police arrested 26 motorists for drunk driving. Seven of the drivers were involved in traffic crashes.

So far this year, there have been 691 DUI arrests compared with 623 during the same period last year, an increase of 10.9 percent. The numbers of arrests by district were:

There have been 597 major accidents so far this year compared with 755 during the same period last year, a decrease of 20.9 percent.

So far this year, there were 17 traffic fatalities on the Big Island compared with 11 during the same period last year, an increase of 54.5 percent.

DUI roadblocks and patrols will continue island wide.
