Summer Reading Program at Kealakekua library (June 1-July 2)

The Kealakekua Public Library is hosting the 2010 Summer Reading Program, which runs through July 2. This year’s theme is Make A Splash @ Your Library.

There are prizes for reading books and a free weekly prize just for coming in to the library.

The following are some of the scheduled events:

* Wednesday June 2, 5-6:30 p.m., Kid’s Craft Stenciling (5 years and older with parent; teens)

* Saturday June 5, 11 a.m.-noon, Sakura Music Ensemble, flutist and keyboard player, (all ages)

* Wednesday June 9, 5-6:30 p.m., Temporary Tattoos, (preschool and older with parent; teens)

* Saturday June 12, 11 a.m.-noon, Paper Engineering, (5 years and older with parent; teens and adults)

* Wednesday June 16, 5-6:30 p.m., Summer Net Baskets, (5 years and older with parent; teens and adults)

* Saturday June 19, 11 a.m.-noon, Worm Composting, (8 years and older with parent; teens and adults)

* Saturday June 26, 11 a.m.-noon, Arnie the Magician, (all ages)

* Wednesday June 30, 5-6:30 p.m., Seashell Designs, (5 years and older with parent; teens and adults)

There are events scheduled for all ages. Parents and adults or siblings can read to younger children. If you need a sign language interpreter/other accommodations, contact the library in advance.
