Kona Stories Book Shop schedule (June 2-12)

Feldenkrais Class
Date: Wednesday June 2, 11 a.m.
Where: Kona Stories Ohana Room
This class taught by Debra Lerman has been exploring and teaching movement for more than thirty years. She holds degrees in dance and physical therapy, and over the past ten years has practiced as a Guild Certified Feldenkrais Practitioner®. Class fee is $15 drop in or $40 per month.

Qi Gong Class
Date: Wednesday June 2, 4:30 p.m. – 6 p.m.
Where: Kona Stories Book Shop Ohana Room
This Qigong class will be taught by John W. Adams, L.Ac. This introductory class is appropriate for all levels and will focus on the eight pieces of Brocade Qigong. You will work on regulation of the body, the breath and the mind. Class fee is $50 per month or $15 drop in.

Free Writer’s Group at Kona Stories Book Shop
Date: Thursday June 3, 1 p.m.
Where: Kona Stories Book Shop Lanai
1st & 3rd Thursday afternoon a writer’s group meets on the beautiful lanai of Kona Stories Book Shop in Kainaliu. Local writers (both professional and amateur; and of all genres) meet in order to exchange ideas, feedback and information about the industry. Most importantly, the group serves to nurture literary creativity, create a local literary community, and inspire individual progress. Everyone is welcome and this event is FREE!

Angel Reading with Elena Athena
Date: Friday June 4, 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Where: Kona Stories Book Shop Lanai
Come and hear what your angels have to say to you. Angels are powerful, wise and loving guides who can motivate and heal you in many ways. Elena Athena, an “Angel Reading Practitioner”, is a clairvoyant intuitive who will help you in giving a clear direction and tools in your spiritual journey. She is an Advanced Certified Angel therapist by Doreen Virtue. Readings will typically be 15 minutes for $20.

Hank Wesselman Workshop
Date: Saturday June 5, 1 – 3 p.m.
Where: Kona Stories Book Shop in Kainaliu
This event will be focused on our ancestors who, like us, have lived through good times as well as through challenges and have now moved on. Yet from the inter-life state, many maintain a compassionate concern for members of their kin groups related to them through blood or marriage. We will utilize the shamanic method to reconnect with an ancestor who loves us. Hank will also be available to sign copies of his books including his newest: Awakening to the Spirit World: The Shamanic Path of Direct Revelation (co-authored with Sandra Ingerman) that includes a free experiential CD. Workshop fee is $35.

2nd Tuesday Book Club
Date: Tuesday June 8, 6:30 p.m.
Where: Kona Stories Book Shop Lanai
Join this fiction book club for a lively book discussion on the beautiful ocean view of Kona Stories book shop in Kainaliu. This month’s discussion will be on the book “Rooftops of Tehran” by Mahbod Seraji. From a striking new talent (Sandra Dallas, author of “Tallgrass”) comes an unforgettable debut novel of young love and growing up in an Iran headed toward revolution. Everyone is welcome and this is a free community event. Bring a pupu or beverage to share.

Olympic Coach Shares Inspirational Story in New Book
Date: Saturday June 12, 1 p.m.
Where: Kona Stories Book Shop in Kainaliu
In his new book releasing this month, “A Coach’s Journey: From a Sandlot to the Olympic Stadium,” Ken Foreman shares a true tale of the liberating power of risking, expecting, and believing. An NCAA All-American at USC, Foreman has been coaching for 62 years, during which he produced 167 All-American athletes, six Olympians, more than 50 national team members, and numerous NCAA champions. His story will inspire all who strive to be the best that they can be, as seen through the eyes of man who, as a twelve-year-old boy, “heard them cheering” in the Olympic Stadium, caught a dream, and worked his way to the pinnacle of the athletic world.
