Big Island police arrested a 39-year-old Kailua-Kona man Thursday (May 20) on possible drug charges after finding heroin and morphine in his possession during an unrelated arrest.
Officers from the Ka’Å« District, Kona Patrol and the Area II Vice Section worked together to arrest and charge Lee Todd Mallon on a bench warrant stemming from drug and firearms offenses dating back to September 2009. After that arrest at 4:40 p.m. in Punalu’u, officers obtained consent to search Mallon’s belongings and found a 7.6 gram packet of heroin, a 1.1 gram packet of morphine and related drug paraphernalia.
Mallon was held at the Kona police cellblock overnight pending a court appearance Friday (May 21) for the bench warrant.
Detectives from the Area II Vice Section are continuing the investigation into the heroin and morphine offenses.
If it weren't for the firearms charge, I'd say give the guy his bag of dope and let him go home. he looks like he needs it. But because of the firearms deal, let him rot in jail.
