It was East meets West for the title in the BIIF Division I Girls’ Softball Championship Saturday (May 1). The West side was represented by the Kealakehe Waveriders and for the East it was the Waiakea Warriors defending their BIIF title.

Waiakea started off swinging with hot bats scoring seven runs in the first two innings. The Waverider batters were not able to figure out the pitches of Waiakea’s Tiffany Anzai who allowed no runs in seven innings. Kealakehe’s Summer McIntee pitched a complete game for the loss.

With this win Waiakea has now won the BIIF Division I Championships four years in a row. Waiakea now must wait for the seedings for the Hawaii High School Athletic Association state softball championships on Oahu. The tournament will be held May 11-14, at the Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium.
