Kaapahu Road reopens in Hamakua Friday (April 30)

MEDIA RELEASE

The County Public Works Department reopened Ka`apahu Road at the Sand Gulch in Kalōpā, Hāmākua on Friday, April 30. Damaged by the 2006 earthquake, Willocks Construction Company installed a guard rail, resurfaced 130-feet of roadway and stabilized the slope on the makai (gulch side) of Ka’apahu in three-and-a-half weeks, which is three months ahead of schedule. The contract allowed repairs to continue through August 11.
