Senior housing applications being taken

MEDIA RELEASE

The Office of Housing and Community Development is currently accepting applications from individuals interested in residency at the Ainakea Senior Residences in Kapa`au, North Kohala, Hawai`i.

The Ainakea Senior Residences is a rental project consisting of 30 one-bedroom, one-bath units with complete kitchen and bath facilities. Each unit includes a refrigerator, an electric range and oven, and solar water heating system.

The project also includes a community building that has on-site mail boxes, coin operated washers and dryers, as well as a meeting room and a lanai gathering area.

Maximum occupancy for each unit is 2 and at least one person in the household must be 62 years of age or older. The household income must not exceed HUD income guidelines.

Applications are available Monday through Friday between 7:45 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. at the Office of Housing and Community Development, 1990 Kinoole Street, or at 50 Wailuku Drive, in Hilo; at the Mayor’s Kona office, 75-5722 Hanama Place, Suite 102, Kailua-Kona; or by calling the OHCD at 959-4642.
