UH-Hilo’s Ono gets an ace during the InterWest Chico State Invitational

Randi Ono’s ace highlighted the opening round of the InterWest Chico State Invitational women’s golf tournament at Butte Creek Country Club in Chico.

The University of Hawaii at Hilo junior aced the 143-yard 12th hole with a six-iron.

Dayna Bersamin is tied for 10th place to lead the Vulcans with a 9-over-par 81. One shot behind and tied for 13th place are Ono and Nicole Aoki. Jodie Borchert is tied for 45th place with a 97.
Sonoma State leads the team competition with a 318. They are followed by Cal State Monterey Bay (326), Western Washington (328), Grand Canyon (332), Academy of Art (336), Hawaii Hilo (342), Chico State (348), St. Martin’s (350), Cal State East Bay (384) and Dominican (481).

Academy of Art’s CrystalFaith Superal has the individual lead with a 2-over-par 74. In second place is CSUMB’s Cicilia Chudivan at 3-over-par 75 while two are tied for third place at 6-over-par 78.
