Little Fire Ant presentation in Kona tonight (March 22)

MEDIA RELEASE

On Monday, March 22 from 6:30 to 8:30 pm the KOC is offering an opportunity for residents to learn more about the little fire ants that are appearing in Kona. These small red colored ants are tiny, but their bite packs a sting which can cause harm to you, your animals, pets and livestock. Cas Vanderwoude, an ant specialist from Hawaii Department of Agriculture will discuss how to identify the ants. He will also talk about ways to prevent the spread of these very destructive critters. These ants are very hard to eradicate, but hopefully with the cooperation of everyone, we can control their spread here in Kona
