Mauna Kea summit access road re-opened

UPDATED MEDIA RELEASE (3/10/10)

Wednesday, March 10, 2010 – 10:06 a.m.

Aloha,

The road to the summit of Mauna Kea is open.

This announcement is primarily used to inform the public about road closures that typically occur during the winter months due to ice or snow on the road and occasionally for high wind situations.

There are very few road closures from April 1 through November 30, and this message will not be updated during this time period unless unusual circumstances develop.

The rest of this website, along with the Mauna Kea Weather Center homepage will continue to be updated on a regular basis and remains a useful source of current Mauna Kea weather conditions and a forecast for the next few days.
