MEDIA RELEASE
The University of Hawaii at Hilo stayed close for a half but then saw Dixie State College run away as the Vulcans fell 80-48 in a Pacific West Conference game in St. George, Utah.
The Vulcans are 13-11 overall and 7-7 in the PacWest while the Red Storm is 19-5 overall and 13-2 in the Pac West.
Trailing 29-23 at the half, the Vulcans were out-scored 51-25 in the second half.
The Vulcans were cold from the field hitting just 10 of 29 shots from the field in the first half and 11 of 29 in the second half. In the end, they hit just 36.2 percent of their shots.
On the other hand, the Red Storm hit 33 of 61 shots or 54.1 percent of their shots.
The Vulcans were also beaten on the boards 43-27.
Jusitn Smith led the Vulcans with 14 points while Kevin Bruce added 11 and Brandon James had 10.
