Some of Hurney’s day-to-day tasks included assisting families transition into long-term permanent housing, develop necessary skills and education among a long list of duties.

“Having the opportunity to take the lead reins with Habitat for Humanity West Hawaii seems like a natural progression of my prior work,” Hurney said. “I am really excited to get down to the business of building affordable homes here in West Hawaii. Our affiliate has a strong staff that is ready as well.”

Hurney replaces Vicky Dannals who has relocated back to the mainland.

“We are so fortunate to have Pat onboard with our West Hawaii Habitat family,” said Tom Whittemore, Habitat for Humanity West Hawaii Board President. “With Pat’s strong background in working with non-profit organizations, we look forward to building long-lasting relationships within our community while continuing to grow Habitat for Humanity West Hawaii’s mission of building clean, safe affordable housing.”
