Small 3.4 magnitude quake off Kalapana Tuesday (Feb 23)

This is an earthquake informational update for Tuesday morning, February 23 at 10:55 AM.

An earthquake occurred at approximately 10:42 this morning offshore of the Kalapana region of Kilauea Volcano. Preliminary data indicates that the earthquake measured 3.5 on the Richter scale. No Tsunami has been generated for the Island or State of Hawaii.

A minor earthquake occurred at 10:41:33 AM (HST) on Tuesday, February 23, 2010 .
The magnitude 3.4 event occurred 8 km (5 miles) SE of Kalapana.
The hypocentral depth is 44 km (28 miles).
