TTouch training for you and your horses (Feb. 21-27)

MEDIA RELEASE

World-renowned animal behaviorist and Kona resident Linda Tellington-Jones will teach a “Tellington TTouch Training for You and Your Horse” Feb. 21-27 in Kailua-Kona.

Tellington-Jones has taught TTouch (a specific method of touching and training) around the world for the last 40 years, helping to transform and elevate the physical and mental well-being and potential of horses, dogs, cats, and humans — and a variety of exotic animals.

One particularly captivating animal was a python named Joyce who slithered across the stage, passing up a number of panelists in order to reach Linda. The audience of hundreds of veterinarians and zookeepers was astonished as Joyce arched her body upward toward Linda, grateful to receive special TTouches from her.

Tellington-Jones has used TTouch training on horses around the world — from hard-working Olympic athletes to horses used simply for recreation.

She has developed and evolved TTouch over the years — even earning an honorary doctorate for her work.

“The wonderful thing about these TTouches,” said Tellington-Jones, “is that they’re simple and easy to learn, and you don’t need to know anatomy or physiology. TTouch has produced remarkable results on animals from snow leopards to elephants to golden monkeys. It’s been an honor to work on these animals, and then be able to teach people how they can make such a positive difference with animals too.”

TTouch results for horses include a deepening of trust between the human and the horse, and improving the horse’s coordination, athletic ability and focus while the horse’s handler/rider learns more about becoming safe, confident and skilled.

“We may even do a few fun demonstrations of riding without a bridle!,” Tellington-Jones said.

“Humans benefit greatly from TTouch as well,” she said, “and that’s why we include TTouch for humans in this course — and it gives people a feeling of what their horse is experiencing with TTouch. TTouch for humans is effective for reducing stress, relieving pain, improving neurological function, releasing fear and promoting the body’s own ability to heal.”

The event includes one day on a boat ride and dolphin swim.

“These trainings are so much fun for everyone, and we love showing people the island and taking them out for a romp with dolphins,” Tellington-Jones said.
