Police charge Kailua-Kona man in drug bust

A Kailua-Kona man was charged on Friday (January 29) with various drug offenses.

Officers from the Area II Vice Section served a search warrant on Thursday (January 28) at a Kanaka Street residence in Kailua-Kona. A 24-year-old man was arrested after officers recovered 23 grams of powdered cocaine, 7.8 grams of crystal methamphetamine, 9 grams of hashish, 7 grams of dried marijuana and 24 marijuana plants from the residence.

Police also seized $950 in cash for forfeiture. The drugs have a combined street value of about $4,000.

Jose J. Garcia, of Kailua-Kona, was charged with two counts of drug paraphernalia and one count each of promoting a dangerous drug, promoting a harmful drug, promoting a detrimental drug and meth trafficking.

His bail was set at $64,000.
