HPA serves up annual holiday concert (Dec. 6)

MEDIA RELEASE

Hawaii Preparatory Academy welcomes the holiday season with a concert at 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 6, at the school’s Davies Chapel, on the Upper Campus. The concert is free and open to the public.

More than 50 students in the HPA orchestra, guitar class, and choir will perform under the direction of Upper School music instructors Dr. Madeline Schatz and Marina Tichotsky.

Included in the program will be holiday music, as well as music from the theatre and classical repertoire. Student soloists from both the instrumental and vocal genres also will be featured.

The orchestra will play the Hallelujah chorus from Messiah and other Christmas favorites.  In addition, the orchestra will perform the Overture from the Barber of Seville. The guitar ensembles will perform holiday favorites, as well as songs from the rock genre.

The choir will present a wide variety of music, from traditional carols to popular holiday songs such as White Christmas, It Must Have Been The Mistletoe, Hodie, Carol of the Bells, and Somewhere in My Memory (from the movie Home Alone).
