UH-Hilo’s Smith selected PacWest player of the week

PHOENIX, AZ – University of Hawai‘i at Hilo senior forward Justin Smith (Los Angeles, CA/Reseda) has been named the Pacific West Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week.

The honor was announced by the PacWest Media Office in Phoenix, AZ, on Monday, Nov. 30, for games contested Nov. 23-29.

Smith led the Vulcans to a 2-0 week by averaging 21.5 points and 8.5 rebounds per game. He ranked second in scoring, fourth in rebounding, and eighth in shooting (70.4%) after making 19 of 27 attempts from the field. He also tied for fourth in the PacWest for the week in blocked shots per game (1.0).

Bryan Ngo (Sr., 5-10, 175, G, San Jose, CA/Santa Clara) earned Top 10 honors for averaging 16.5 points and 2.0 three-pointers per game. He is tied for eighth in three-pointers made per contest in the PacWest for the week, tied for seventh in the league in scoring average during the week and shot 52.6% from the field, making 10 of 19 attempts.
