MADD Hawaii County will host their annual Candlelight Vigil at Hospice of Hilo on Saturday (Nov 21) from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. The vigil offers victims and the community an opportunity to remember loved ones killed and to honor those who have rebuilt their lives after serious injury, all caused by impaired driving and other violent crimes.

Each year, the vigil provides bereaved family and friends and injured victims a safe and supportive environment to grieve, remember their loved ones, and unite with others who have suffered similar tragedy.

The vigil ceremony will include remembrances from families who have lost loved ones at the hands of impaired drivers and other violent crimes.

For the past 25 years, MADD Hawaii has helped save hundreds of lives and worked to improve highway safety through educational programs, strengthening laws, partnering with law enforcement, and establishing programs for youth. When tragedy occurs, MADD is available to provide support services to injured victims and the families of those killed in crashes. MADD’s mission is to stop drunk driving, support the victims of this violent crime and prevent underage drinking.
