Flash Flood Watch today through Thursday

The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Watch for the Big Island effective at noon today (Nov 10) through Thursday night (Nov 12).

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation. You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should flash flood warnings be issued.

The forecast for East Hawaii through Thursday

Today: Scattered showers, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after noon. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 71. Calm wind. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between 2 and 3 inches possible.

Tonight: Showers likely, with thunderstorms also possible after midnight. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 63. Calm wind. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

Veterans Day: Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly after noon. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 69. Light and variable wind. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible.

Wednesday Night: Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly before midnight. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 62. Southeast wind around 6 mph becoming west. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible.

Thursday: Showers and thunderstorms likely. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 70. South wind between 7 and 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between three quarters and one inch possible.

Thursday Night: Showers and thunderstorms likely. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Cloudy, with a low around 62. Southeast wind around 9 mph becoming west. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between three quarters and one inch possible.
