Boys & Girls Club of the Big Island promotes two staffers

The Boys & Girls Club of the Big Island announces the following promotions:

Kathleen Christopher is the new resource development director. Christopher has worked with The Boys and Girls Club of the Big Island (BGCBI) for two and a half years. In her new role, Christopher will manage Club funding and allocation of resources in the Club’s programs and sit on the resource development committee. She will also continue to handle grant administration and pursue unrestricted grants and contributions. Christopher “has the experience, competency, and most importantly, the passion to be the best advocate for our Club,” said Kalani Silva, chief professional officer of BGCBI.

Jay Ihara is interim director of operations. Ihara will oversee Club operations and programs and will sit on the program development and property management committee. Ihara previously worked as a unit director in Pahoa and has been with BGCBI since 2003. “Ihara will bring consistency and stability to a much needed area of the Club,” said Silva.
