Galileo Block Party in Hilo Saturday

At the UH-Hilo Science and Technology Park
1:30pm: Opening Ceremony
1:30pm – 6:00pm: Activities and hands-on stations by observatories and institues
4:00pm – 7:00pm: Special events at `Imiloa Astronomy Center of Hawai`i

The community is invited to the Galileo Block Party Saturday October 24, where the Maunakea observatories will have family oriented activities, and booths to learn about astronomy. Hosted by Mauna Kea Observatories Outreach Committee and `Imiloa Astronomy Center. Complete your “passport” for free admission to `Imiloa in the afternoon.

The Galileo Block Party is open and free to the public. It will take place from 1:30-7:00 p.m. in Hilo off Komohana Street at the UHH Science and Technology Park, where most of the observatories’ base facilities are located. `Imiloa and its beautiful Sky Garden Restaurant will remain open throughout the event, and `Imiloa will offer a range of special planetarium programs and activities until 7 p.m.

Directions from Wainuenue Avenue:
Driving up WAINUENUE AVENUE turn left on to KOMOHANA STREET. After about 1.4 miles, you will see a large green sign on the right, “University of Hawaii Astronomy Center”. After seeing the sign, take a left on to NOWELO STREET.
