Cemetery expansion nearly complete

MEDIA RELEASE

The Department of Parks and Recreation announces that the West Hawaii Veterans Cemetery III expansion project is almost complete.

The project includes building a new access road, comfort station, committal shelter, maintenance building, cremains garden and a memorial walkway. For safety reasons, the cemetery will be closed October 28-30, 2009 for movement of the columbaria to its permanent location in the cremains garden.

The County of Hawaii thanks the public for their patience and understanding throughout the construction project. Upon completion of this expansion project, the cemetery will be a special place to honor our veterans and loved ones.

For information, call Robert A. Fitzgerald, Director, Department of Parks and Recreation, 961-8311.
