The Department of Environmental Management intends on implementing a change to the operating hours and days at County of Hawaii Solid Waste Recycling and Transfer Stations (a.k.a. convenience centers or transfer stations) beginning Dec. 1, 2009.

This change will also apply to the operating hours and days for associated onsite Recycling Centers, Reuse Centers and HI-5 Redemption Centers. The change is part of the Department’s plan to increase oversight, reduce operating costs, and further the County’s progress toward Zero Waste by improving facility operations and expanding services at all County Solid Waste management facilities.

Take the survey and give comments. Survey is at: www.hawaiizerowaste.org/node/211

  1. Well that just blows crap!

  2. Gary says:

The survey is rigged by only listing 2 choices (both reduced days/hours) to make it seem that everyone favors a reduction of some sort.

    We don’t.

    I call BS.

This will result in huge delays, and increased unsanitary conditions at these facilities.

Let’s just throw it over their fences if they’re closed.
