UH-Hilo basketball teams introduction

The University of Hawaii at Hilo will host their annual basketball teams introduction on Thursday, October 15 in the UHH gymnasium.

The doors will open at 6:30 p.m. followed by a 7 p.m. introduction. Among the activities will be a 3-point shooting contest, a 2-ball/hotshot competition and a dunking contest.

Entering his 12th season, head coach Jeff Law welcomes back six players – Kevin Bruce (5-11, senior, guard), Eric Jimenez (5-8, sophomore, guard), Jimmy Lefebvre (6-6, sophomore, forward), Bryan Ngo (5-10, senior, guard), Vince Sanekane (6-0, sophomore, guard) and Steve Schicker (6-2, sophomore, guard).

New to the squad are Andrew Gipson (6-0, junior, guard), Brandon James (6-6, junior, forward), Nick Kanno (6-0, sophomore, guard), Samuel James (5-9, freshman, guard), Lavell Shipman (6-3, junior, guard), Justin Smith (6-6, junior forward), Mitch Steffey (6-0, junior, guard) and Zachary Wilde (6-7, sophomore, forward).

Entering her 4th season, women’s head coach Daphne Honma’s squad returns eight players from last year’s 15-9 squad. Returning are Mana Camara (5-8, senior, forward), Leesa Deniz (5-8, senior, forward), Richline Gabres-Batoon (5-2, junior, guard), Ruby Harris (5-11, sophomore, forward), Hina Kimitete (5-3, senior, guard), Kayce Kirihara (5-6, junior, guard), Sheena Pio (5-8, sophomore, forward) and Vaaimamao Hotia (5-10, sophomore, forward).

New to the squad are Shantel Buckner (6-0, freshman, post), Lindsay Cartwright (5-5, junior, guard), Jazmine Corpuz (5-5, sophomore, guard) Genevieve Cuesta (5-4, freshman, guard), Carol Howard (5-4, freshman, guard), Kirsty Imai (5-4, freshman, guard), Dayna Jandoc (5-6, sophomore, guard), Ashlee Kalauli (5-2, freshman, guard), Natalie Mata (5-6, freshman, guard/forward), Amanda Muller (5-11, junior, forward), Agata Tlalka (6-0, junior, post) and Tressa Torres (5-7, freshman, forward).
